What is a Therapeutic Head Spa?
Tribe's Therapeutic Head Spa is a relaxing, water-based experience featuring naturally detoxifying and stimulating Surface Awaken products.
Combining botanicals and amino acids with exfoliation and high-frequency promotes cellular turnover and creates an optimum environment for the healthy production of new hair.
Head spa services are appropriate for all hair types and can be helpful in treating thinning hair, hormonal and post-partum hair loss, as well as common issues like dry or oily scalp, dandruff, eczema and psoriasis.

The service begins with an electronic analysis of the scalp and hair to customize deep cleansing, detoxifying, exfoliating and hydration treatments. Followed by a therapeutic waterfall experience and a relaxing head, neck and shoulder massage. Guests are offered essential oil aromatics, mesmerizing aura lighting, relaxation jade eye masks, heated blankets and foot Warmies to complete their experience.
NO. The invigorating processes of a head spa treatment can cause excessive tension and loosening of all types of hair extensions. HOWEVER, many hair extension guests look forward to scheduling a head spa treatment in conjunction with the removal of their hair extensions.
YES. Surface Awaken products are technically “color safe” and “keratin safe.” HOWEVER, color and keratin guests should always wait at least SEVEN DAYS after chemical services to receive a head spa treatment. Tribe Salon and Spa IS NOT responsible for color fading or the weakening of any keratin smoothing.
Absolutely! Head spa treatments can provide therapeutic relief for guests with many common scalp issues. HOWEVER, services cannot be performed if extreme irritation or open wounds are present.
A scalp facial targets the outer layer of skin. A therapeutic head spa treatment incorporates exfoliation and detoxification to eliminate oil, skin and product buildup and clear clogged follicles; high frequency and botanicals to stimulate cell turnover, and nutrient-infused products to maximize the healthy production of new hair.
Wear comfortable, loose clothing and little or no makeup. Guests will be asked to change into an upper body towel wrap to accommodate the neck and shoulder massage portion of the service. Head spa treatments are water-based and some overspray may come in contact with face makeup and clothing.
To accurately analyze any current or chronic scalp issues, it is recommended that guests refrain from shampooing 24-48 hours prior to a head spa treatment.
YES. Your hair will be towel dried, not dripping. Most guests prefer to put their hair up in a clip for the ride home. Similar to not applying makeup immediately following a facial, we highly suggest letting your hair air dry so the cuticles can close and seal naturally. HOWEVER, if your schedule or the weather does not permit leaving with damp hair, we have a complimentary blow dryers available for use while you get dressed.
Tribe WILL NOT perform Therapeutic Head Spa services on any person with the following:
- Matted, Knotted and/or Dreaded Hair
- Open Wounds, Sores and/or Ulcers
- Lice, Fungus (Tinea Capitis) and/or Scabies
- Recent Surgery on the Head and/or Neck
- Metal Implants in the Head and/or Neck
- Chronic Head, Neck and/or Back Pain
- History of Stroke, Seizure and/or Migraine
- Allergies or sensitivities to essential oils, including but not limited to, tea tree oil, any type of mint, lavender, any type of pepper, soy, sulfates or skincare products and/or cosmetics.
FAILURE TO DISCLOSE any of the above constitutes an absolute and complete waiver of liability for Tribe Salon and Spa should any adverse reaction(s) occur.
